Apple is top spot holder

Forbes lists BMW as the most powerful car brand in the world, ahead of Toyota, Mercedes-Benz and Honda.

BMW is holding on to ninth place on the list, ahead of Cisco but behind General Electric. The next automotive brand is Toyota on 14th place, followed by Mercedes-Benz on 16th and Honda on 19th place. If we look down the list, we find Audi on the 32nd spot, Volkswagen on 45th and Ford on 59th position. Towards the bottom of the list are Hyundai (71), Nissan (76) and Lexus (87).

Forbes puts Apple in the lead, ahead of Microsoft, Coca-Cola and IBM. On fifth place is Google, followed closely by Intel, McDonald's and General Electric. Yahoo is almost at the bottom, holding on to the 96th position.

For the sheep of the world, i'm sure this a great, great read...........but if you still have passion and flair - buy something that doesn't dominate the roads like these rep vehicles - all now seemingly from Germany - I know its economics - but Fritz has flooded the corporate market, gone are the days of exclusivity with the BMW's, Merc's and Audi's - you would probably get more looks driving a Ford these days - at least they look different :)

This Audi/BMW saga is getting old. I will simply say this. Audi fan or not, you simply have to give credit to BMW for pulling off the successes they have had in the past decade without a parent company bankrolling their successes like VW has done for Audi. Audi is sitting nice and snug under that VW umbrella. Come back when Audi is independent of VW. For the time being VW will keep pumping money into Audi to try and usurp BMW. I have massive respect for Audi as a brand but give credit where credit is due. BMW thoroughly deserve the praise and respect.

If you really feel that Audi is so strong, why worry about this little article? The study apparently wasn't to rate cars, it rates big businesses.

And it is also a FACT that VAG which also includes Audi was charged for bribing auto-journalists with hookers, so that they would rate them better. Also, when did Audi start making proper RWD platforms again? When did they win the F1 championship as engine supplier?

Worried??? :D yee right, for what I need to be worried? I have a LOOOL :D F1 is sh.t and that's fact, no one cares about dirty politics and tyre managing race... WEC is a real deal, and from next year it will be even better... RWD??? look at R8 LMS, its RWD and its first RWD car made by Audi for ages and its dominant... gives bm&mb and all the rest hard time... and that's just ONE car... Quattro still the best :)

The concept of a brand is often difficult to define but if I could simplify it. It is simply global popularity as well as the perks that come with this popularity such as influence and increased perceptual value.

@AudiCarFans, I can appreciate that you are dedicated to Audi, but don't be so bias that you insult other car fans. We all have brands we like but shoving them into other people's faces isn't right, if you drop the bias you may find it more rewarding because you can just talk about cars with car fans. Instead of bottling your self up with other angry Audi Car Fans.

BMW are for people who show off, and Audi's every single model in its lineup humiliates them. Don't even think about the R8, because BMW a so lazy that they don't even have a supercar!

BMW has alot of wealth in the family on top of the car business. It is able to afford Mega R&D on carbon fiber tech etc. A few years back even GM was trying to buy BMW engines in trying to catch up with the pack. When BMW talks people listen, look how everyone adopted their iDrive as an example. EV's are struggling but with the i3 arriving etc, all that might change. BMW will be the game changer!

BMW--if it plays its cards right--could also be a HUGE player in the clean turbodiesel car market. They already have sold the 268 bhp 3.0-liter I-6 engine model in the 335d and X5 xDrive35d, and the 180 bhp 2.0-liter I-4 will soon be arriving on the 328d. Now, if we can just talk BMW into offering the 268 bhp turbodiesel on the 5 Series and 7 Series soon....

The only thing that makes sense to me would be that Forbes is a US publication, and they are focusing more on American perception of brands.

I think it means to be influential (to move the world in a certain directions, or ideas) and have the funding to do so.

It's bases off brand value and perception. Value is what the company is worth. Perception is voted only its industry peers.
