Mercedes is gearing up for the official unveiling of the 2014 S-Class on May 15th and it looks like someone accidently jumped the gun as Mercedes-Benz Austria reportedly posted this official picture of the car on their mobile website.
The image was quickly pulled, but BlogAutomobile managed to get a screenshot before the inevitable happened. As a result, we can see the model will adopt a sportier front fascia with a prominent grille, LED-infused headlights and larger air intakes.
While only one image was leaked, we already know the model will move upmarket to help fill the gap left by Maybach. This means the S-Class will feature a variety of luxurious options including heated / ventilated seats, a rear seat entertainment system and an "Air Balance Package" that filters and ionizes the air and can even dispense perfume. We can also expect a rear passenger compartment that offers Maybach-inspired tray tables and "Chauffer Seats" which are ten-way adjustable and have a power-deployable footrest.
Engine options remain unconfirmed but choices are expected to include a twin-turbo 4.6-liter V8, a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 and a new V12. There should also be diesel, hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants but little is known about them as of yet.
