Chevrolet's marketing manager for performance cars John Fitzpatrick has given the 2014 SS an official walkaround at 2013 New York Auto Show.
The only Chevrolet model offered with a rear-park assist system that aids in parallel parking, the 2014 SS is scheduled to hit the market in the third quarter. It's described as a "rear-wheel-drive performance sedan" powered by a 6.2-liter V8 LS3 engine rated at 415 bhp (309 kW) and 415 lb-ft (562 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to rear axle through a six-speed automatic gearbox with TAPshift paddles.
It benefits from a MacPherson strut front and a multi-link independent rear suspension, while stopping power is provided by Brembo's ventilated 355mm rotors with two-piece, four-piston calipers. It features electronic power steering and rides on 19-inch alloys covered by Bridgestone tires. Thanks to an aluminum hood and rear deck lid, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has a low center of gravity and a weight distribution of almost 50:50.
Inside it gets leather upholstery as standard and can accommodate five adults, providing 42 inches of front legroom and 39 inches of rear legroom. Also standard are ice blue ambient lightning, 8-way power-adjustable front bucket seats, color heads-up display, 9-speaker Bose sound system and push-button start.
