A new batch of spy photos with the BMW i8 has arrived at our office, ahead of an official reveal scheduled later this year.
BMW has conducted a significant amount of testing for its upcoming hybrid supercar which will finally be unveiled in several months, most likely in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This latest set of spy shots shows a heavily camouflaged prototype testing at Nürburgring and wearing production-ready taillights.
Power will come from an electric motor and a three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, as opposed to the concept which had a diesel engine. This updated hardware should allow the BMW i8 reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in about 4.8 seconds.
Reports are indicating a steep starting price of 150,000 EUR (approximately 197,835 USD / 129,295 GBP).
