Debuts later this year

The BMW 5-Series GT facelift has been spied once again, ahead of an official unveiling set for later this year.

The 5-Series Gran Turismo is about to receive a much needed facelift as sales in the United States and other regions of the world are very low. It will come without the big and unattractive rear spoiler as it will adopt a more elegant rear end inspired by the one seen on the smaller 3-Series GT.

There will be some changes at the front where the bumper will have revised air intakes, while the headlights and grille will take some styling cues from the facelifted 7-Series. Minor changes inside the cabin are also expected, along with the same engine lineup as the current model.

It will likely be introduced this September in Frankfurt before going on sale in early 2014.

It's been years of 5GT bashing, and I still don't see the 'ugly'. This is one of the more elegant shapes out there. I'm a big GT fan!

Hated it when it first came out...Looked so ugly in the photos. BUT..in real life it really does look good and does have some presence. It bigger than the photos show and from what I thought.. For a family this beats any minivan, R-class, or SUV in my opinion

Definately is a big car. Im sure BMW will improve on this car's looks and marketing because i have yet to see a 5GT advert. Be it on tv, magazines, anywhere.

For a family beats R class? In which way exactly? Comfort-no way, r-class is longer and has a great air suspension, it has more leg room in the second row, it even has a third row. And boot is larger too. The R-class sits higher like the ML but rides like an S class. So no way GT beats R class.

Like the R class for Mercedes, the GT is here to stay. You either love them or hate them. They have a place in the hearts a few. MB and BMW carters for this loyalists without being so concerned about the numbers. They have other models that count on the numbers board.

This car doesnt need a facelift. It needs plastic surgery. That or a wrecking ball...

A bit lower roofline, a bit thinner back and it would be a beautiful car.

I have seen a few running around my town and its far from what people say on forums. Its not at all ugly. What does surprise me is that the number of 5GT's i have seen around here were used as hotel shuttles. But yes, a lower roofline would give it a sleeker, more attractive appearance. -----------------------------@Afrikar: Correct, though the 5GT is a more compact vehicle than R Class. R Class has a certain charm to it and its a win for me on interior space with that car.

Shuttle, just like the R Class in NYC. Space for the passenger yet there is lots of cargo space. Without losing the luxury. Remember both are build off the top range of their family S and 7. Correct me if am wrong.
