BMW explains the X4 Concept [video]

Arriving at Auto Shanghai 2013

BMW has released a presentation clip for the recently unveiled X4 Concept which will be shown to the public later this month at Auto Shanghai 2013.

BMW Group Design Manager Domagoj Dukec says the Sports Activity Coupe uses the X6 recipe which combines elegance, dynamic and strength, providing "eye-catching proportions" and "tight contours". BMW says its "numerous high-quality details" offer an "unrivalled product character brimming with emotional appeal, dynamism and sturdiness."

The production version is scheduled to go on sale in early 2014 and will be made in Spartanburg, South California where BMW plans to invest 900M USD for their latest crossover. Most likely it will be offered with a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo rated at 240 bhp (179 kW) and 352 Nm (260 lb-ft), along with an inline-six, 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo producing 300 bhp (224 kW) and 406 Nm (300 lb-ft) of torque.

I don't like this one. The 3er GT makes more sense.

What's to explain? They cut off part of a useful roof, eliminating any semblance of practicality but their margins are going to be great as they save so much in materials. It looks silly and is brutal to see out of the rear making it harder to drive. Why are people buying these awful looking cars?
