Arrives next week

The first official images with the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG have surfaced the Internet ahead of next week's public debut in New York.

Following a partial online reveal last month when the PlayStation 4-exclusive game Driveclub was announced, we now have official pics with the AMG version of the four-door coupe. It is expected to get a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 360 HP (265 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque mated to a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox.

Earlier this month at the Geneva Motor Show the German automaker confirmed it will run the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in 4.6 seconds and will have a starting price of 50,000 USD.

360hp and 332lb ft of torque is a lot for a 2.0 liter. It must be running really high boost. Wonder how reliable it's going to be.

Great looking car, but could do with some bigger rims.

I love this car. I'm 6'6" tall and have kids so it may be a little small but for the price i could have a first gen CLS550, and get my son one of these instead of college. Just kidding. but wondering if it is fwd or rwd? anyone know?

Too much bling. MB lost its way. The target buyers, the 7ft. 300+lbs. basketball player and rappers, will not fit in.

The bigger wheels complete the car, this now looks fantastic! Would love to see/hear a video of it in action...

"2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 360 HP (265 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque mated to a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox". Nice. If you aim to sell it after 30,000 miles. Used car buyers beware.

I think the problem with this design is, that the wheels look far too small (side view), and the overhang on the front is a bit too long!

I say this car is sexy, sporty, and unique all at the same time. Compared to competition for the price and the performance and interior this car provides is fantastic. 0-60 at 4.6 seconds in a sedan with a 2.0 engine !! I am not sure about the way the navigation screen is positioned but I will have to look at it in person to judge at this point. In the books looks impressive!

Few concept to production cars have lost as much in translation as the CLA, though this version does look a bit better than standard car. Like the rear bumper in particular. Wheel arches are quite small so doesn't make aesthetic sense to launch with a painted rim edge wheel design as that tends to make a black wheel look smaller, all black would've helped disguise the small arches/ wheel ratio better. And that side profile isn't great, if so many other saloon cars/ manufacturers can come up with sleek and tapered nose designs then why not Mercedes? Same story with the CLS.

Agreed! This is just one of those cars that will have to be seen in person. The proportions take some real getting used to. I just hope it has the performance to match and most importantly a sound that will do AMG proud.

I would have to see this car in the flesh, it's not a bad looking car although it is nowhere near as pretty as the concept version. Also, the CLA (not the AMG version) is not getting the best write ups in the magazines lately.
