Mercedes-Benz confirms plans to preview SLS replacement 'very soon'

Mercedes-Benz confirms plans to preview SLS replacement very soon

Could be the rumored SLC

A Mercedes-Benz official has declared during the Geneva Motor Show a concept previewing the SLS replacement will be shown "very soon".

The concept could be hinting at the long-rumored SLC which apparently is due in 2015 according to latest rumors. Some say the new model will literally be a replacement as Mercedes-Benz plans a different car with a new name. Chances are it will be smaller and lighter than the SLS AMG Black Series in order to compete with the Porsche 911.

Reports are suggesting the car will be available with a V6 3.0-liter engine producing 333 hp (248 kW) and a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter with 485 hp (362 kW). These two engines will be connected to a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox and a limited slip differential.

Mercedes-Benz plans several versions of the new model to make it more competitive in the performance-car segment and could cost from 80,000 GBP (120,500 USD or 92,600 EUR) to 120,000 GBP (180,000 USD or 139,000 EUR).

As long as they dump the ladyshave front grille/bumper look of the electric SLS.

I really like the SLS. I've even had the pleasure of driving one owned by a family member for the weekend. I truly hope the next one will be another smash!

Once again, WCF is showing an outdated artist impression of the SLS, used in an article about the SLC... Get your facts straight and do some research for once, that's what being an editor/journalist is about!

I bet this is bs. What's the use of replacing a 2011-car three years later? Even the SLR, which suffered poor sales (poor compared to MB/McLaren expectations), ran for 7 full years before being retired.

That was the beginning of Merc into the super car arena and had to keep it until they thought of a replacement. The slr though a better car was way too expensive for a super car starter. Imo, the slr should have been priced under $150,000 dollars which could have paved way for the sls. I meant in my previous comment that the sls was ugly and not the slc. Way ugly such that if it were a woman you wouldn't bother turning our head.

They should try a mid or rear engine machine. Ferrari, Lambo, Audi, Porsche. Hold on; are the last 3 from one parent (VW); I get it. MB would have to spent money they don't have.

so soon... R8 and Gallardo have been around for ages and still look good with minor facelifts along the way. Merc can keep SLS around for years to come instead of chasing the 911...that's a war they are likely to lose.

I must say that this car is ugly and the potential to appeal to consumers is not there. I'm 100% sure that merc is not making much revenue from this car. This is so ugly to be called a supercar.

Your blind to read it's an artist render and not a 100% Job-1 photo from MB?
