MPV turned into crossover

Renault is showcasing the Scenic XMOD soft-roader at this year's Geneva Motor Show, together with the Clio GT and Captur.

The MPV has received a crossover appearance and it's based on the outgoing Scenic but brings new bumpers, sill guards, alloy wheels, roof bars and an increased ride height. It has remained a front-wheel drive vehicle but has a traction control system called Grip Xtend which is controllable with the help of a center console-mounted rotary knob.

The driver has three modes to choose from: Road, Loose Ground and Expert. Road is considered the standard setting as it works like a typical traction control system. Loose Ground controls engine torque and whenever on low-grip surfaces optimizes braking control. Regarding Expert mode, the driver is in charge of the engine torque while the electronics take care of the braking.

The 2013 Renault Scenic XMOD has a 555-liter boot capacity and benefits from independent seats which can be folded or removed. Inside there's a multi-directional joystick for the infotainment system and a TFT digital screen.
