Hennessey to tune the Corvette Stingray to 1000 hp

Hennessey to tune the Corvette Stingray to 1000 hp
2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

A variety of other accessories also planned

Hennessey Performance Engineering has released the first details about their upcoming tuning program for the 2014 Corvette Stingray.

The Texas-based tuner plans to offer two different performance packages for the C7 Coupe and Convertible. The first kit will use a supercharger to enable the model to develop up to 700 bhp (522 kW). The other kit will use twin-turbos for an output somewhere in the range of 800-1000 bhp (596-746 kW). Both packages will likely rely on the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine that normally develops 450 bhp (336 kW) and 450 lb-ft (609 Nm) of torque.

Hennessey also plans to offer a variety of accessories including cold air induction systems, cat-back exhaust systems and stainless steel long-tube headers. We can also expect a sport-tuned suspension, high-performance brakes and "wheel and tire upgrades."

The Corvette goes on sale in the third quarter of 2013, so expect the packages to show up several months after that.

the market is looking for supercar refinement....not plain horsepower numbers. what would be mental is if we get a 600hp 427 Z07 naturally aspirated..

I expect a bunch of thumbs down for this but - I am not impressed. We've seen massive power out of GMs new V8s and as awesome as it is (sorry Europeans, the pushrod V8s are not 1970s smogmobiles with no power or fuel efficiency), its been done before and we'll see a boatload of insane HP Vettes soon enough. The real challenge for tuners for the new Vette is to improve even more the new interior and improve handling. I live in Japan and I cannot count the number of 1000hp+ Supras that I have seen but not all win on the race track and they get killed in gymkhana/touge. Handling.....that's where the real talent will make a name for themselves. Lets see a total "track package" rather than just....oooooooooo, more hp.

What for? 450 bhp sounds pretty good. 1000 bhp is ok in Veyron but in Corvette is madness.
