I expect a bunch of thumbs down for this but - I am not impressed. We've seen massive power out of GMs new V8s and as awesome as it is (sorry Europeans, the pushrod V8s are not 1970s smogmobiles with no power or fuel efficiency), its been done before and we'll see a boatload of insane HP Vettes soon enough.
The real challenge for tuners for the new Vette is to improve even more the new interior and improve handling. I live in Japan and I cannot count the number of 1000hp+ Supras that I have seen but not all win on the race track and they get killed in gymkhana/touge. Handling.....that's where the real talent will make a name for themselves. Lets see a total "track package" rather than just....oooooooooo, more hp.
Really, you're not impressed? You're missing the point. Taking a small block V8 engine from GM no less and tuning it from 450hp to 1,000hp is no small feat. It takes seriously impressive engineering and countless research to make that type of engine produce this much hp without exploding. I agree with the opinion that you don't need 1,000hp in a Corvette - nothing about it will handle well, despite "suspension mods." You need a whole new chassis for that, which is why cars that do that- Veyron- cost millions of dollars. But to say that you're not impressed? I'd like to see you try.
Google it. 1000HP out of a SBC is not a unicorn. Its been done. Its not new and ooooooooowing over the Hennessey as though its never been done before may impress you. I simply know better.
