I really approve the fact that they keep the design clos to the previews model. The W221 was the best looking S-class so far, the design was sporty and elegant, way ahead of its time and the car still looks god after 7 years. And it beat the A8 and the BMW 7 even at the end of its life cycle.
A great successor is ahead of us! And who owns a W221 doesn't need to throw it away, as it was the case with the W220.
After the 722.9 7-speeds initial "teething problems" (to be nice...), they should take their time and make sure the 9-speed is up to par before release.
2014 S-class was not designed as a revolutionary car. It’s an evolutionary premium 4dr sedan that represents today’s top quality in safety and technology as well as manufacturing materials in a very competitive segment of cars. I was part of this presentation and personally I like the idea of a dramatically improved car w/o going to radical to its body design.
