S1 based on facelifted variant

Rumors are indicating Audi will launch the S1 next year based on the upcoming A1 facelift.

Fourtitude is reporting sources within Audi have confirmed the S1 will be launched sometime next year, along with the facelift variant of the regular A1. No news about what will power the Audi S1 but it might get a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine producing 220 HP (162 kW) linked to the quattro all-wheel drive system.

As for the RS1, this probably won't see the light of day because someone at quattro GmbH thinks there isn't a market for such a car and if put into production, the RS1 would be too expensive in a market which is price sensitive. If Audi will change its mind, the RS1 is likely to adopt some of the styling cues seen on the limited edition A1 quattro.

I've heard rumors that the facelifted A1 Sportback may make it to the US market, and if Audi shows it at either NAIAS or Chicago Auto Show next year, it definitely is coming to the US market.

Good news because its ugly as hell, only a man with no taste could buy this over Alfa Romeo Mito.

I would, any day. Who on earth would like to take their car to the workshop every week, cause it brakes down so often. Audi, BMW, Merc anyday over Alfa. And the A1 is a beautiful little car.

OK, you just heard that thing from some other stupid comments on some other sites, yes I admit Alfa has its annoying diseases maybe more than germans although since 159 they're really fine cars and its all about how you drive and maintain your car, ask for a test drive in MITO 1.4 TB (170 HP), when you hear the sound of that car and you feel his soul, I guarantee that you'll forget Audi immediately, with Audi you just cant have that feeling, with an Alfa you can. And considering the looks of A1, when you're a fan everything is beatiful, to each his own but its so ugly that I would rather push an Alfa than drive this.

I am a fan of cars in general. Especially well designed cars. I have a very general taste of what is beautiful. BMW 1er? Ugly as hell. New Lexus IS? Ugly as hell. Audi Q3? Ugly as hell. But Audi A1? Sexy as hell. It's not easy to create a beautiful little car. But Audi, Mini and Alfa sure made it. But to call the A1 ugly? Man... I do not get.

Audi A1 is not ugly but it looks kind of outdated to boring. Audi should give it not a facelift but a makeover to attract buyers that don't buy Audis just for the brand image. Alfas may not be as reliable as Audis (which have a good share of problems also by the way) but they do not break down that often and yes they posses character, uniqueness and drivability. The A1 is a great little car but unless Audi gives it some interesting design I tend to prefer some of its rivals.

Make the A1 clubsport for the love of God! OK, they wont but having the S1 come with near as much power as the limited edition A1 quattro may not be good news for those that bought the limited edition. Thats why I think Audi should make another limited edition A1 with at least the engine of the S3.
