 Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG revealed
Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG 12.02.2013

To arrive in Geneva next month

Mercedes-Benz has released the first official images with the A45 AMG ahead of Geneva debut.

Last November we saw a lightly camouflaged prototype of the A45 AMG and now we have a look at the production-ready model which is slated to be available on order this April.

There is no official press release available at the moment, but the 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine is expected to deliver 360 HP (265 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque between 2,250 - 5,000 rpm. Power is transferred to all four wheels through a dual-clutch, seven-speed transmission with Race Start function.

It should complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 4.6 seconds en route to an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is expected to have an average fuel consumption of 6.9 - 7.1 liters / 100 km and CO2 emissions between 161 - 165 g/km.

Exact technical details should be available very soon.

I'm amazed how everyone is comparing this with M135i which is not a true M! This should be compared to a current generation 1M, which does not exist!

Mind you: The turbo on our C-class 2005 coupe hat to be changed two times before the car reached 40.000 miles.Fortunately on factory accomodation. The 3rd one went at 76,000 after the car was sold. Still the hassle was great both times the parts had to come back on the shuttle returning to earth (or so it felt) and the car at the garage each time for a month. I do not look forward to some similar problem. Btw. it was wifey`s car and certainly did not get driven AMG style!

What turbo did you have on the 2005 C-class? The petrol ones were supercharged, and the diesels, which had turbo, almost never fail, so I call on your bluff.

360 hp from a 2ltr 4 banger turbo. Wow. This kind of performance was reached before with a good inline six or even a V8. I mean something got to give in the reliability department. I do not see this engine last (or even made to) 150K miles or 200.000 km. All in the name of economy. The middle east runs out of drinkable water in 7-9 years. Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Irak and most of these OPEC countries import water at a next to nothing rate from the West. We should create OWEC (Organisation for Water Exporting Countries) and tie the price for much needed water in the region directly to their oil and gas prices: ENJOY ONCE AGAIN THE 40ct. /gallon gas! Get real engines back in our cars and work on the clean burning tech for better emissions.

Just can't wait to hear the exhaust note of this car. Love the interior. This car has just the right amount of "crass boy racer" and "I'm old and I know what better things in life are" style blended in.

I like, Im pretty impressed of merc's first proper hatchback, it has a hint in my mind of the old 1 series profile (long bonnet, kicked in at the back) which i adore, The A class may have flaws compared to rivals but its deffo on my lottery list.

If you remove the Merc badge you could actually mistake this for a Hyundai or Kia design. Seriously

Agreed, but I still like it and if they brought it to the states I would get one. That said and I'm a big BMW fan. The only thing I don't like about this car is the huge "look at me" tri-star on the grill.

That 4.6s if real.. is lighting fast for its class..even with 360hp. I like it!! The exhaust tips might have been a little better, but the car looks great overall..

I love it. The styling is more daring than the M135i and the RS3, but it still very tasteful. The performance specs are impressive too.

the front is exactly the same as the normal A with the AMG package. Any way it looks great and we all know it will be great and very fast but will it sound great like the other AMGs?

I doubt this turbocharged 4 cylinder engine sounds like a AMG V8

It's much better looking than the 135i, but I'd still get the BMW. You just can't beat RWD platform of the 1 series. This AMG will understeer as much as the RS3.

But it is FWD platform and chassis. Haldex doesn't make it a proper AWD car, just like Golf R and RS3 are not a proper AWD cars, wheareas 1 series is a well balanced car, build from scratch with handling in mind.
