En route to Geneva

These are the first live photos with the recently introduced BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo.

Following an official media release last week, the 3-Series GT has arrived in a BMW dealership in Madrid where it participated in a photo session. The new model is 81 mm taller and 200 mm longer than the Touring variant and has a 110 mm extended wheelbase.

It has been fitted with a prominent front grille, sloping roofline and a large tailgate with an active spoiler. On the inside it brings a slightly raised seating position and 70 mm additional rear seat legroom. The trunk can hold 520 liters but if you need more the rear seats can be folded to increase luggage room to 1,600 liters.

Engine lineup includes several 4-cylinder 2.0-liter units and a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder, with output ranging from 143 HP (105 kW) to 306 HP (225 kW) for the inline six model.

This model brought something to my mind. Benz gave us the CLS, something of a niche,SLs and CLs. BMW gave us the X6, the 5GT and now the 3GT. What did Audi bring to the table that is a product of innovation and a challenge to the world? something different and we have not imagined before?

I do not know what the fuss is about this car... It really is very good looking. Good looking plus practical = winner!

Looks way better than the 5er GT. But still... that rear is weird. I prefer the Audi A5 Sportback, which is much sexier.

Didn't BMW learn with the 5 series GT? It didn't sell very well yet they decided to build yet another one of these abominations. Sedan, Coupe, Convertible and wagon. Hell maybe even a lifted wagon to compete with the Audi Allroad. Stop it with these wagon, sedan, SUV hybrids.

Apparently the GT has better rear load space than the touring variant, it also has much better access to the rear seats with a larger door opening. I honestly think it makes more sense as a motorway cruiser for a family. That's why it's called a GT really.

You're alone on those comments bro,the world has moved on and we accept the 3GT. The next generation 5GT will surely be a better design and production. These GTs have potential. You will soon start to see an Audi A5/A6 GT being born( as audi is a follower of trends/niches set by BMW and Benz again.

Whats the big deal? Whatcar had a walkaround video up 4 days ago. I think the front end is actually nicer than the 3 series saloon. Not sure about the rear though, interesting spoiler however. Here's the video; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Cw9oPiWmM8&feature=share&list=UU-GJbheknHZhSM7-Jgn63jg

OK, I didnt want to say this but now its official, this car is much better than Wagon, look at that M Sport package, I bet it would look cool in black with tinted windows, or maybe I'm going crazy.
