the new 911 does look great. but i dont get it, everybody commends and applauds the evolutionary design, but when aston martin came out with an evolutionary design, everyone bad mouthed them and said that theyre lazy and what not for not designing a new car, when in fact the vanquish is a new car it shares only 25 percent components with the older and previous models. and the new 911's often share much more than the with previous generations.

Never heard of that.. I think Aston is absolutely just as gorgeous as a 911. I dread the day Aston decides to leap to another desig for their DB.

Evolution doesn't mean changing a spoiler, all current Aston Martin cars look the same. They don't make a new car because they know they can't make something better than the DB9, so they are milking that design as long as they can.

Well thats the same thing that porsche has been doing for 50 yrs. all 911's 996's and 993's (my personal fav gen) look the same too. So by your logic is porsche "milking" the design too?

First of all, it's the same model, the 911, while Aston has the same design for all cars. Second, if you think a 930, 993, 996 and 991 look the same, you need to get your eyes checked.

And it is exactly as you said, the 911. Its just the designation for the gen but all the gens look similar over the years, the basic shape proportions design formula ect. aside from little details like "changing a spoiler" as you said. And if you think that each designation is a completely new 911 then maybe you should should take some of your own advice and get your eyes checked as well. And as for the db9, its just astons martins own "911" and they will probably continue to evolve on that design as long as they can just as porsche does. Aston martin was just not as fortunate enough to stumble on the db9 basic design formula like porsche did fifty years ago with their 911.

The only cars that kept their original styling are the 911, LR Defender and the G wagen. Timeless designs.

I dont know how Porsche does it, similarities between the first and the latest, 50 years apart - and the first 911 looks great today and just as desirable as the modern 911. How do they keep it so similar thru the ages, and still keep up with modern style demand and topping the the best with every new model?

Evolution vs Revolution: most car maker think the latter. Porsche with their most important model 911 has been successful.

even more so with the money they make from selling Cayennes they can keep making better and better 911s
