2013 Opel Corsa facelift spied, next-gen rendered

Facelift should debut in Frankfurt this September

Our spies were able to take a few photos with yet another facelift for the aging Opel Corsa.

Even though other cars in this segment are either new or have been significantly refreshed recently, Opel is planning one last facelift for the Corsa, following the one released at the end of 2010. The front of the car is likely to get an Adam-inspired styling, while the interior cabin will suffer significant changes. Minor engine tweaks are expected when the model will probably make its public debut in September at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

We have also attached a speculative render with the next-gen Opel Corsa which should be out sometime in 2015. Envisioned here is a significantly more attractive Corsa which has grown in size and has received some of the visual cues seen on the Adam city car.

I read elsewhere that Opel blew their budget on the Adam, so now don’t have any funds left for a new Corsa? (so have to facelift it until a replacement is due in 2015). Where’s the logic in that? The Corsa is an established best seller, and "cashcow", for Opel but the Adam is a new-entry to the range, and completely unknown product, sales-wise. IMO not smart! (Besides I’ve driven this model and the previous version (as rental cars) and IMO the previous version was better! ...and it sold better, too!!!!!)

Introducing a whole new model that hasn't had enough money spent on it would make them look bad and make the shoddy new model a flop. Keeping a ubiquitous car in production for a little while longer and launching a rival to the very popular 500 and (sort of) DS3 isn't the worst plan IMO.

This doesn't make any sense, why they make a restyle a year or less before new model, when Corsa is a good seller. I think this is a mule for new one, not restyled model.

2015 is a good 2 years away and the Corsa is already an old design with every other competitor in this class being new. Opel hopes the restyling will help the aging model make it to the finish line with decency.

Spot on mate! Great restyle though. Opel/Vauxhall definitely have design mojo nowadays compared to the 90s don't you think?

I agree, this is more likely a mule for the next gen Corsa, which will probably be released late 2014. Opel have never done a second facelift on any of their cars. And while the Adam is soaring into the limelight, it takes some of the heat off the current, aging Corsa, giving Opel a chance to work their magic in this segment for the next gen version!
