Chevrolet launches 2014 Corvette Stingray ad [video]

Enemy of the same

Chevrolet has launched the first ad showcasing the recently unveiled 2014 Corvette C7 Stingray.

After presenting the car last month during the 2013 NAIAS show in Detroit, Chevrolet has prepared a commercial with the new Corvette, before the car goes on sale in Q3 2013. The automaker says the C7 has been "engineered to defy convention" and also to "dismiss ritualistic and the cliché".

Exploring the unknown, abolishing empty traditions and opposing the expected are all objectives of the 2014 Corvette Stingray, approximately 60 years since the C1 was introduced. At its heart is a V8 6.2-liter LT1 engine which has an estimated output of 450 hp (336 kW) and 450 lb-ft (609 Nm) of torque, enough to propel the car to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than four seconds.

A recent report indicates Chevrolet will reveal the convertible version next month in Geneva.

I personally think that this car is hot...but it has room for improvement: 1. The Rear End is too Boxy... 2. The Front Headlights (Eyes) are too Vertical and does not resemble a Sting Ray's Cool but Sharp Stare...as it should... Other than that...it is definitely a stunner...well done GM... I think this car should be the next Knight Rider...

I guess the guy who designed the interior was a big fan of the BMW E36 : http://s1.aecdn.com/images/gallery/BMW3Series-E36-Sedan-767_8.jpg

The front is a blatant rip-off of the 458. Goes to show only the Italians and Germans really are at the forefront of design innovation.

With the Corvette, Chevy has been copying Ferrari since....ah, the C1! Even with the concept cars. And so what! It happens in every industry. Entry level manufacturers copy the design elements of the boutique, exclusive, upmarket leaders. Who would you like them to copy from? Volvo?

And about the interior....it does not have the interior of a $100K sportscar...mmmmm, could it be because it is a $60K sportscar? Yeah, a a $50K Bimmer sedan has a much nicer interior build quality, more solid structure, more refined powerplant....but it will take twice as long to get to 155 MPH, at which point you are done. This roughly finished plastic thing will take you close to 200 mph and brake from there with any exotic costing 5 times as much or more. That's an achievement any way you look at it.

Why do people have such a hard time appreciating an amazing car just because it's made in America.

Wow, that is a lot of wheel gap, ugly rear end and again a cheap plastic interior. Otherwise its not as bad as the last generation. Trying hard to copy Ferrari on the side and front end too.

So in the .25 second clip of the aluminum shifter surrounded by leather and carbon fiber you gathered that there is a cheap plastic interior? pretty keen observation skills you have there. Oh and It's not modeled after a ferrari in the least bit. You should try looking at the C7 for what it is and not what you want to think of it before you know how well built it really is.

I guess you haven't seen all the pictures already out on this car. Catch up on the subject before you post. Oh and the C7 is a poorly built car and really cheap interior and it's not just my opinion, look at all the reviews.

There are no poor reviews on the build quality of the C7, what reviews are you watching? nobody has done a review of it yet, nobody has driven it, they've just seen it. You're making yourself look dumb.

Sorry C6...and look it up almost all say the same about the build quality. Nothing will change in the new model.

You continue to make yourself look stupid with your responses, the main priority with the new model was to improve the highly criticized interior. I think it's safe to say that yes, it will get better. Do some research before you post nonsense on here.

EvanBarsy, you need to open your mind and stop being such a blind Vette boy. They never have and till proven wrong never will be a serious drivers car. Like I said before GM lost it around the mid 70's and been crap ever since. I will always consider them a rental car and even then be pissed off when I have to drive them on my trips. But hey, you keep up your name calling you tough internet guy...I guess a typical Vette owner :-)
