Could debut in November

Lexus International executive vice president Kazuo Ohara has revealed the company will unveil an entry-level crossover concept later this year.

Speaking to Drive, Ohara said the crossover could debut sometime "around [the] Tokyo [Auto Show]" in November. The executive declined to go into specifics but said "a smaller SUV is going to be a promising option for the global market."

Little else is known about the model, but speculation suggests it could be based on the Toyota RAV4. That's unconfirmed at the moment, but Lexus recently trademarked the NX 200t and NX 300h names which could imply the model will be offered with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine as well as a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine.

This is welcome news from Lexus as it needs a Crossover model and more body styles rather quickly to start doing some damage! The CT200h has been a run-away success by their conservative standards. The RX needs a junior brother anyway!

typical lexus bland and boring. They make amazing interiors, and the buid quality is very good, but either their boring or just out right ugly cars. Such a waste.I would buy a toyota and pocket the differnce.

If this true, then they gonna have a little bit of a problem unless they make the RX a seven seater. I doubt the interior space will be much smaller, just the trunk. Might as well make the RX a seven seater to cater to a broader market.

Since the RX is based on Camry/Highlander. This one gonna be a premium version of RAV4 to rival Acura RDX?
