I wonder what Audi would say if their '91 Audi Quattro Spyder was compared to the '89 Toyota MR2 2nd Gen.

Long ago when I saw the first R8 which was named something else I can't recall, I remember thinking to myself ( wow it looks like Audi is gonna make a new NSX) .

You really have to understand car design to an advanced level to even begin to answer this question. The front, rear and side profile of the New NSX are unlike any Audi design currently out there, including the 1991 Quattro Spyder Concept and R8! Maybe Audi isn't happy that Tony Stark managed to drive something hotter and different in Marvels Avengers Assemble rather than what he drove in Iron Man! Jealousy aplenty here, no doubt! Paranoia rather than genuine design plagiarism is the issue here. CASE CLOSED.

Audi has complained other companies copying their styling before. I remember this news from WCF :P http://www.worldcarfans.com/109081020975/audi-a8-prototype-mocks-mitsubishi-jet-fighter-front-grill/lowphotos#3

REALLY?????? Is Audi serious? The only thing these cars have in common is the fact that they have 2 doors each. Audi should rather change their styling direction and stop worrying about others who have.

1, 2, 3, 4, ... It looks nothing like Audi's concept car. What's Audi talking about? That's like saying an Aventador looks like an Huayra or something.

I think a lot of 2-door sports coupes look that way at the time. Looking at the spyder conjures up shadows of 1990 Toyota MR2 and Lotus Esprite, but which one came first? I really don't see any styling resemblence with the new NSX here.

the frontend of the audi concept resembles nissan 300zx nad ferrari 355, while the rear is toyota mr2 2nd gen...if you look at it overall, the 1991 audi concept is a 1989 toyota mr2 w20 ripoff, with audi badging...the 2013 nsx concept has nothing to do with that audi. one must have a really baf sight impairement to state such a thing. obviously, both concepts being sport cars, with aerodynamics in mind, might have some vaguely similar engineering solutions.

They borrowed the shape but the vehicle as a whole is entirely uninspiring. The sad thing is that this thing is about to be launched while the R8 is on its last legs. Silly Acura.

That 1991 Audi Quattro Spyder looks still so fresh.

The new Acura NSX looks like an evolution of the original NSX plus all the following concepts that followed it. It has the proportions of the 2003 HSC and face/rear of the 2007 ASCC concepts. It has some of the rear treatment of the HSV-010GT. The R8 design was from 2007 and if anything looked like it copied the 1990 NSX where it took the NSX turn signals and made them into headlights.

I don't see any significant similarities for Audi, the front is pretty much Acura/Honda. Though, the rear truly resembles Aston Martin. If someone has right to say a few words, it is not Audi but Aston in my opinion.

There are some similarities to the R8, no argument there, but from the pic above, it looks like aston martin, tommy kaira ZZ2, and a Lambo all wrapped in one. Acura could have been more creative with the design, honestly every manufacture steals some styling cues from each other all the time, so what's the point of this argument anyway.

I've read comments and everyone refers to R8. The QUATTRO SPYDER was a concept car unveiled in 1991 and never saw itself on production. Here's the link http://www.netcarshow.com/audi/1991-quattro_spyder_concept/1024x768/wallpaper_01.htm The NSX loox way better than that car.

The Hyundai HCD-14 has Audi A7 side window profile and grill silhouette, the new Kia Forte K3 and Kia Cadenza has a hint off the rear tail lamp of the A6. The Kia K5 has a hint of Audi in its dashboard. There are countless Chinese car with Audi-ness in their design. But I guess because this is the Audi flagship "which will be phased out when the Acura flagship arrives" we are talking about, guess it will pissed those guys at Ingolstadt abit.

The K7(Cadenza's domestic market version) came out before the current A6. People were actually saying back then the "new" A6's taillights look like the K7's.

Oh and like the Quattro Spider doesn't look like it was inspired by the Ferrari 348 (introduced in 1989.)

even more obvious since the R8 was the car that Stark drove before the Acura. :)

I own an Audi and a Bimmer. The NSX concept does not look anything like old Audi. I think Audi is just jealous of the fine design. Hope they make this one.
