For emerging markets

Chevrolet is presenting at 2013 NAIAS the sedan version of the Sail.

Aside from showcasing the Corvette C7 Stingray, Chevrolet is also exhibiting the low-budget Sail sedan. Developed for emerging markets, the car will be sold with either a 1.2-liter S-TEC II engine or a 1.4-liter S-TEC III engine.

General Motors mentions the interior cabin has a Corvette-inspired look with a dual-cockpit layout and a so-called "horizon view" dashboard. In addition, buyers are expected to get "excellent leg room, generous boot space and cleverly designed extras like a rear seat armrest."

The 2013 Chevrolet Sail sedan will be sold in emerging markets like China, Chile Peru and India. A recent report indicates Chevrolet is planning a more premium LTZ variant.

I will be very clear. Chevrolet has factories in Brazil. Until 2010, Chevrolet, both Brazil and Mexico, continued manufacturing the famous Chevy "Corsa" (the old Opel Corsa which was marketed in the 90s). As the market for Corsa was optimal, either because of low fuel consumption and good resale, practically took over Chevrolet Corsa model, since in those years did not have the improvement Opel has today. Thus, as Chile has returned to the German brand Opel, Chevrolet chose to do the "replacement" of the Corsa, opting for the new Chevrolet Sail, which these days is almost the same as the Corsa-90s on issues of equipment and consumption. It may be recalled that Chile is an emerging country, but if we have the advantage that we are the only country in Latin America that own the vast majority of makes and models in the world. Both well as in Europe. We have from the most economical vehicles, as well as the most exclusive ... It's just a matter of visiting Internet sites and realize that what I tell them is feasible.

Adrian, there's a minor mistake in the article. The first line contains "NAIS", but it needs to be "NAIAS"

The car has already been on sale in China for three years. The basic model comes with 13-inch steel wheels, no airbag... and a "Corvette-inspired cockpit" ??

I wonder how much these low end cars are hurting the Chevrolet image in the US.
