Debuts on January 14th

The first picture of the Infiniti Q50 has leaked to the web, ahead of its debut at the North American International Auto Show.

The image was accidently posted on Infiniti's Canadian website, but was quickly removed once the error was noticed. However, members from the MyG37 forum were able to snap screenshots before the picture was removed. Their quick action allows us to see the model will have an evolutionary design with an aggressive front bumper, an enlarged grille and distinctive headlights.

There's no word on specifications, but previous reports have indicated the model will have an upgraded 3.7-liter V6, a hybridized 3.7-liter V6 and possibly a turbocharged engine in the IPL variant.

The 2014 Infiniti Q50 will be unveiled on January 14th, so stay tuned for full details.

The outgoing G37 was so much better looking. I thought the new IS was bad (i.e. a badly jazzed up old IS by the looks of it) but this is so much worse, it even makes the new IS look good. and it has that stupid kink in the rear side window from the Urethra concept.

Not crazy about the front, but it looks nice, and i still think the name change isn't a good idea, but this looks hot. Lets see how things go with the name change.

Hey SteveIorizzo, the pics were in fact pulled unaltered from Infiniti's own website. The person who posted them is not a punk, he might be a bit of a grouch lol but he was just passing along what was on the actual Infiniti website. I dont know how the first comment from GTurbo actually received thumbs up. I strongly disagree with his statement on Infiniti looks going downhill unless he means after the 2013 model year. So far its been exactly the total opposite and sales figures strongly back that up! The Infiniti's from the 90's to mid 2000's were new to the market, so of course they stood out, but they were never really "stunning". Maybe the Q45 was a stunner, but the rest?? C'mon really dude? The J30 was a melted jellybean, and the I30 was a Maxima with different badges, and the Maxima was never a stunner in the looks department, but the power and speed was something special thats why it was labeled as 4dsc (4door sports car). The M30/M45 was an ugly azz stretched 1984 Nissan Stanza coupe with leather and V8 power, it never looked good prior to 2006. Which model sir was the stunner, Im confused? The first and arguably most sexy Infiniti was the first G35 coupe. I personally find the 2010 thru 2013 G37"S" sedan & IPL coupe, both sport models to be the sexiest Infinitis by a long shot. Look at ANY limited Edition or Anniversary Edition G37 Sedan and tell me thats not a looker still to this day. Anyway Im just not blown away by the new Q the way I was when the G35 first came out. I just dont have that passion to know more about it like I still do with the current G which is going to maintain a good resale value due to this radical new styling direction by Infiniti. Seems like they got bored of sexy, curvy, unique vehicles and decided to throw some sharp angles in the front end to mimic Lexus, Audi, VW, etc.. To me the front end looks like pacman got caught in a fishing net and drowned, and 2 sharks are playing tug of war with the net to see who gets to eat his carcass. Speaking of under water, I think Im more excited about the giant monster squid the Japanese scientists caught on film for the first time, more so than the unveiling of this "Q" car. I saw a comment on another site from a guy who calls himself the gay Jew...he said, and I quote "you can sell an M to a gay guy, but you cant sell a 'Q' to a straight guy"...I thought that was funny. Maybe this car will look better in person perhaps in a different color with different wheels?? Maybe the look will grow on me after a while like the 2010 G sedan did. I thought that looked weird until I got up close and personal with the sport model. I dont know. I want to like it, but to me its not a true G at heart. I can accept it better as a resurrected J (from J30 to J37) more so than a stupidly named G sedan...Q50. It better be a performer, and it needs to be competitively priced. Please fire current Infiniti president Johan de Nyssen and put back the guy/team that came up with the original G design. Mr Johan needs to team up with Chris Bangle and do a reality show about how they almost effed up a successful car company. Okay Im done.

These pics are not accurate. Might be similar but not exact. The pics are rendered from a punk that's on myG37.com

Very nice looking. Makes it hard to decide. A 3-series, the Q50 or a Cadillac ATS?

Not bad, but I prefer the more daring looking of the Lexus IS.

Q50? What a stupid name. You will think of Audi Q5.

Stupid comment! Infiniti marque had been using Q as the name for sedans since 1989.

Germans rule! The new Lexus IS and this Infiniti looks like the current A4 on steroids. These car manufacturers are great at copying designs, changing things up a little and there you go.....new design. The front end of these cars is an evolutionary design of the aggressive A4 front. Sorry, not impressed at all. Go get a BMW instead. If you think they are overpriced, get a used one!

I've been always saying Asians copy Euro, but I get dissed here and there.. They dont understand that building a car to cater the numbers is only half the effort - driving a BMW makes you understand what the other half is. This car like other Asians are a mimic, a glorified Honda, Toyota, or Nissan - at the end it's just numbers - the enjoyment really comes from Europe..

This reminds me of a toyota aurion...some ridiculous comments about die germans die but no one has driven this interesting prospect but it does remind me of the peugot 206 ad where the young chap makes his own version out of a bag of crap but uses an elephant to sit on the front to give a curved shape...guessing that elephant found further work at nissan i mean infibore

Polarised opinion on looks guaranteed. Infinitis of the 90s to mid 2000s were truly stunning, but it's downhill from then till present day. Acura and Honda designs are too similar and that leaves the third of the Japanese Triumvirate, Lexus, as the only one that has a far better blend of European engineering expertise and prestige factor; the designs are far less plagiaristic now than they were in the 90s! The LFA was their global design and engineering statement. Infiniti can do much better than this and the unimaginative nomenclature doesn't help either.
