2014 Audi A4 to have cylinder deactivation technology - report

2014 Audi A4 to have cylinder deactivation technology - report
2012 Audi A4 - 26.10.2011

Will be lighter and more efficient than today's model

The Audi A4 has been on the market for a few years, so it comes a little surprise the company is preparing to launch a redesigned model in mid-2014.

According to Auto Motor und Sport, the car will have a dynamic design with a prominent single-frame grille, flared wheel arches and sharper contours. The sedan could also have larger taillights and a more pronounced spoiler.

Unsurprisingly, the A4 will have updated technology which is expected to include a heads-up display and an MMI Touch infotainment system.

Engine options remain shrouded in secrecy, but speculation suggests there will be a 1.4-liter TSI with outputs of 122 HP (90 kW) and 180 HP (132 kW). Thanks to cylinder deactivation technology, the engines could save approximately 0.5 L/100km.

There's also word of a plug-in hybrid variant that will feature a 211 HP (155 kW) 2.0-liter TFSI engine and an electric motor that develops 95 HP (70 kW).

Good to hear that they want to redesign it, cuz the current A4 has got everything except an exciting look.
