MG has introduced a diesel engine for the MG6 sold in the United Kingdom.
This is a 1.9-liter DTi-TECH turbodiesel engine, a novelty for MG's parent company SAIC Motor. It's a 4-cylinder capable of developing 148 hp (110 kW) and a maximum torque of 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) reached at 1,800 rpm. Power is sent to front wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.
According to MG, with this oil-burner the car can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 8.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 120 mph (193 km/h). It allows the vehicle to return 46.1 mpg UK (38.3 mpg US or 6.1 liters / 100 km) in the city, 59 mpg UK (49.1 mpg US or 4.7 liters / 100 km) on the highway and 53.5 mpg UK (44.5 mpg US or 5.3 liters / 100 km) in the combined cycle, with CO2 emissions of 139 g/km.
Prices begin from 16,995 GBP and as standard it has ABS with brake force distribution, hill hold, stability control system, emergency brake assist, air conditioning and front/rear electric windows.

Built at a state of the art production facility – the DTi-Tech engine is paired with an all new 6 speed transmission called the SCM360. These units are the result of extensive investment from our parent company, SAIC Motor, into the European MG business.
The DTi-Tech and SCM 360 make their debuts in the UK MG6 GT and MG6 Magnette models and will facilitate the next phase of growth for the new MG range both here in the UK and in Europe.

Demonstrator vehicles will arrive in UK showrooms in December and the order book will open at that point.
