BTG lap in 8:05

A 2013 BMW M135i was able to do a full lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 8:18.

About a week ago we talked about this car doing the lap in 8:05 but that was only a "bridge to gantry" lap which is shorter as it measures 11.9 miles (19.1 km). Sport Auto magazine was able to take the smallest model in BMW's lineup with the "M" performance designation and perform a full lap in 8 minutes and 18 seconds. This places the M135i only 3 seconds slower than the 1 Series M Coupe but seven seconds faster than the E46 M3.

The car used was a stock M135i fitted with a 6-speed manual transmission transmitting power to the rear wheels. Under the hood is a straight six-cylinder, 3.0-liter engine producing 315 hp (235 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. It can do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 4.9 seconds and hit an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (255 km/h).

Not that impressive, still ten seconds slower than Renault Megane 265 ...

Maybe, but I'd rather tell people that I drive a BMW over a Renault. So that ends that argument.

Indeed, some cars are so much better in the pub - "Babe, i drive a Beemer, you know", but some are honestly made for performance and joy of driving. Each to his own.

That doesn't end an argument of which car is faster at the Ring, only tells us which car a self serving (Person) would drive which is totally irrelevent to anyone except maybe....YOU !

dbehmoaras coudn't say it better! But if you wanna go that way, M135i is much faster in a drag race (quarter mile), and his result on nurburgring is indeed impressive, considering he is much heavier than megane 265, so I really doubt there's a better hot hatch than M135i, at this moment of course.

You can't be serious Ratt....you've just been told the RS265 is far quicker and you say the M135i result is impressive simply because it weighs more? It has far more power and torque so I'd say that makes the RS265 result even more impressive!

But still - even though the Renault does an impressive job, this is a "normal" family hatch you can use every day with a couple of kids in the back and luggage in the boot (Have the E87 my self, so I'm using it for that) so must say this is pretty spectacular ! Just to be able to beat the M3 is pretty nice...

Impressive. I'm wondering what it can do with the 8-speed automatic and AWD. I bet it will be even 3 seconds faster.

It would be heavier and understeer more, and have less power to the wheels due to AWD having more drivetrain loss.... So no, probably it would not be faster but slower... To be honnest, I was expecting it to get a bit closer to the 8 minute time... maybe is the lack of LSD
