2014 Audi RS6 Avant trailer released [video]

Reaching Europe next summer

Audi has released a video trailer for its recently announced 2014 RS6 Avant. The new and improved super wagon will reach European showrooms next summer, with no plans of arriving stateside.

As a reminder, the car makes use of a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine generating 560 HP (412 kW) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. Power is transferred to the quattro all-wheel drive system via an 8-speed tiptronic transmission, enabling the RS6 Avant to perform the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in only 3.9 seconds.

The standard model can reach a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h), while with the optional Dynamic package can hit 174 mph (280 km/h). Audi also offers the Dynamic Plus package which increases maximum speed to an impressive 190 mph (305 km/h).

Featuring start/stop and cylinder on-demand fuel-saving systems, the 2014 Audi RS6 Avant is able to return 24 mpg US (28.8 mpg UK or 9.8 liters / 100 km), making it approximately 40 percent more economical than the model it replaces.

The colour is Daytona Grey, it is an optional S-line only colour for the standard A6 (I know as my A6 will arrive in 3 weeks) but I guess it will be a standard colour for the RS6. As for Adui understeering: my current A5 understeers quite a bit when pushed but have only really noticed it twice over 4 years. It only tends to become noticeable when you drive like you're on a racetrack, which should never be done on public roads anyway. When I test drove the A6 I noticed you need to push the car a lot harder before even the slightest hint of understeer kicks in. Still not quite on 5-series level, but it is getting very close.

Sounds pretty lame. Plus the M5 is better. M5 is better balanced on twisty roads or the track, and at the push of a button can play the roll of a luxury car better than any car in the class.

When it comes to Audi's everyone goes on and on about understeer right? I do aggree there is understeer, because it is Quattro, and you can't eliminate it 100%. I am sure there is people here that own a M3, M5 etc. How many times have you been on track, and actually had a proper drive, where you can feel that RWD? In EU in most countries you get snow in winter, which mean if you DO have a RWD car, it is not a JOY to drive it, whereas Audi's Quattro can do wonderful things in any conditions. And having Quattro helps RS6 to get to 0-62 in 3.9 seconds, because it can put the power down more efficiently.

I like the M5 better than the RS6. Plus the M5 can drive just fine in the snow with snow tires (Google f10 M5 snow testing)..Plus the RS6 and M5 could only drive in a few inches of snow anyway before they would bottom out due to low ground clearance...so either one is not a wise choice of you live in a snow area...plus driving fast in the snow in any car is plain dumb.

I guess the forthcoming reviews will say the M5 is the better driving car. However, for me I would take the RS6 any day. Why? Because here in England it is either raining or peeing down, and the idea of over 500hp and 2 wheel drive is a recipe for the nearest ditch. Give me Quattro, and the reassurance it gives any day, any weather.

The S6, and S7 use the same "fake" interior sounds. Im talking from the outside of the car....The M5 sounds great...The RS6 not so much.

Then don't buy one. I love it and think it is the ultimate "do(nearly)-everything" vehicle money can buy.
