BMW M135i laps Nordschleife in 8:05 [video]

Stock car, amateur driver

The 2013 BMW M135i was able to lap the Nordschleife in 8 minutes and 5 seconds.

The lap was done by amateur driver Pavel Janda from AutoForum.cz in a stock car fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox and riding on Michelin Pilot SuperSport tires. The car was quicker than the Porsche Cayman S, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, BMW Z4 M Coupe and BMW M5 (E60).

To refresh your memory, the M135i is the first model in the 1-Series lineup to get the "M" performance designation. It has a 6-cylinder, 3.0-liter engine producing 315 hp (235 kW) and a peak torque of 332 lb-ft (450 Nm). 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) takes 4.9 seconds, before reaching an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (255 km/h).

It is available in both three- and five-door versions and comes with an aero body kit, the firm's xDrive all-wheel drive system, uprated suspension and a bespoke interior cabin.

This is a BTG (bridge to gantry) laptime, the video even says so in its title! The laptime for a complete lap would be around 25 seconds more, so about 8:30, which is still pretty fast for an amateur driver and these track conditions. But not faster than the cars you mentioned, by quite a margin.

If it's a manual, it's RWD. xDrive is only available with the auto in the M135i.

Considering the rain, I wouldn't say that driver's amateur at all.

The car is not ugly. You think it is ugly because of the pictures. I saw many of them and it is a nice car. This M135 is impressive, good job BMW.

go away! This car is really ugly and it would have looked better had they produced 4 years ago when they first introduced the concept

An impressive time for such an inexpensive car. Was it fitted with X-drive or was it a standard RWD version? Such a shame that this car is so ugly. Also it does without cabin insulation to save weight so road and wind noise intrusion is horrible. I'll stick with an Audi RS3, thank you.

And that proves that you don't know anything about cars, this is a real enthusiasts car, everyone has different taste, to me Volkswagen/Audi RS3 is ugly as hell but who cares about the looks when it comes to performance and thats where your RS3 fails big time, you ever heard of understeer??

There is one thing. BTG doesn't drive full time, just like this video. Watch video, where its start and where its end. No full lap.

Was puzzled whats the M doing in the designation until I realised...AMG is placed almost on everything....so BMW is following suit!

Just as a reminder - do you remember M-Tech from the 80´s E30 models etc etc. BMW started this trend looooong ago.
