2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 is the last one [video]

Ending a 10-year life cycle

The 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 is the last version before the long awaited successor.

When Lamborghini unveiled in September a modest facelift for its Gallardo they didn't say that it will be the last one. Now we know for sure that a new bull is almost ready to break cover and we will probably see it sometime next year.

The last hurrah of the Gallardo has the same V10 5.2-liter engine producing 560 HP (412 kW) and 397 lb-ft (540 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed e-gear with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

It comes with restyled 19-inch alloy wheels and is available with an optional Style package that includes high-gloss black paint on the front spoiler and grilles. The final facelift has a slightly different front bumper with triangular shapes while at the back it has received a new engine vent.

In regards to its anticipated successor, this will feature a naturally-aspirated engine without hybrid tech and will be available without a manual transmission. At first, it will be sold exclusively with an AWD system but "sometime in the future" it could get a RWD variant.

I'm not a purist so I'm was never bothered by the mix of breads between lambo and audi, but I have to give it to them, the Gallardo was by far one of the best and iconic reliable super-cars of our time, right up there with GT-R, 911's and Z06/ZR1's. The Lambo/Audi fusion was an extremely smart move (to most sane people), it reduced the car's cost, retail price, improved its reliability and not to mention the economies of scale and cross learning effect. It made perfect sense. If you wish to drive a flammable Ferrari for bragging rights, then its your call. I'd rather take a Gallardo or a 911.

Just think of all the R&D available to Lamborghini since it shares all with Bugatti, Porsche, Audi, and Bentley. It must really be hard for Ferrari to compete in the future.

Agreed! The Gallardo is definitely looking dated now! I hope that the next model will draw some inspiration from the Aventador!

A sad day, always been a huge fan the Gallardo and Lamborghini. Would chose this over a Ferrari in a heart beat, they might be technically 'better' but the Lamborghini has a soul, passion and stirs the emotions in a way Ferrari cant... Lambo forever!

Sorry but what soul? A Ferrari is a pure Ferrari, its engine and technologies all done by them, unlike Lambo which which has an engine and some technologies from Audi

Ferrari might be made with passion but they lack the sense of occasion that Lambo has. And Ferrari's DO NOT have soul, its all computers. You dont drive a ferrari, a ferrari drives you. And so what that Lambo has parts from Audi it hasnt diluted anything, it made them better and they still manage to actually have a character!
