A new batch of spy photos with the 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLA has arrived in our office. These photos were taken in northern Europe while the car was undergoing some winter testing.
The entry-level crossover is based on the MFA platform that was used for the A- and B-Class models. As a consequence, the engine lineup will likely include a 1.6-liter producing 156 HP (115 kW) and a 2.0-liter with 211 HP (155 kW). AMG might work on the GLA and install a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbo engine generating about 335 HP (246 kW).
In terms of styling, its design will be influenced by the A-Class that will lend its sweptback headlights, prominent front grille and tailgate mounted spoiler. Since this will be a crossover, the GLA will get an increased ride height.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA will probably be unveiled and go on sale in Europe next year, followed by a 2014 U.S. launch.
