Are we sure about the time? 8:58 is pretty bad considering the power its got and that it's a race car. A stock Renault Megane RS265 does the ring in 8:08

The 8.58 is pretty fast. If you look at the video they did not only drive the Nordschleife, they did a combination of Nordschleife and the GP Circuit as well

The time of the race mini only on the Nordschleife is around 7.32. It is much faster than a sock mini. The time for the combination Nordschleife and GP Circuit is 8.58. For a front wheel drive car very fast! Look at the video again. The mini is faster than a Porsche Cup Car!

I will quote the article..... "Lapped the 'Ring in 8 minutes and 58 seconds" which is why I am questioning the time. I did watch the video and I saw the mini pass plenty of Clio's, 1 Porsche but then I did see another Porsche overtake the Mini and pull away considerably.

It was timed with slicks. If it does 7:32 with those, it will most likely be around 7:50-8:05 with street legal tires. And that's a time you would at least expect from a race-spec car with those numbers.
