How long before we'll get a "Man falls asleep at 140km/h, wakes up in surprise at doorstep" headline?

This car is as close to autonomous as you can get without driving itself. Soon it won't even need a steering wheel.

i don't know about anyone else but i enjoy driving. If i had the money i would have one of these to go from place to place, i'd have a C63 AMG coupe black series for the pleasure of driving.

honestly, I agree with you and also this moment (driving itself) will probably come sooner than we think. And yes, I'm a fan of driving too, but... well, the future belongs to these cars (sooner or later)... when our grandchildren will probably lough seeing how we drive cars today...

The S-class has always been the class leader in every respect but especially technology, and the new one is cementing its title as a technological tour de force, it has truly amazing technology that is genuinely clever... This car showcases the future but also shows that without a doubt Mercedes is at the fore front of car technology, every other manufacturer will copy them, but Merc fans knows whose the best ;) I cannot wait to see it, does anyone know when they will reveal it?

Reliability record for 'being the newest in technology' is not great. You are right about every other car manufacturer will copy them, but its always when the technology has matured, pretty reliable, and the cost is substantially down. Of course if you can afford to buy the S-Class brand new, reliability should not be a problem because all this technology usually are pretty good the first few years. And being the rich, always leases or just change their cars every few years. That's why the S-class is dirt cheap on the used car market. But as always, the S-class is indeed the leader in the ultra lux market with the newest gadgets.

Not so much, actually. 7s are known to be a used nightmare. Excluding the previous S (W220), S classes have been known to hold up rather well over time, and the resale value is pretty decent. People only think back one generation of S and make statements like yours, but the majority of them have continued to be reliable, comfortable, safe transportation for many a year. There are still QUITE a few W126s roaming the roads...

if you feel that you need all these assistants, better stay home with your tinfoil hat. They ARE coming to get you! Ridiculous. ABS, EDC, all that`s needed foe ACTIVE security, I am all for it. If I cannot order that (obviously nice) vehicle w/o all these gimmicks, I do not want it at all. Fortunately the mile long pricelist at Benz might just accomodate me.

In case of a crash, guilty or not as a matter of public record your adversary can claim the cars data as evidence. Snitchmobile.

You will be recorded, cuddled and scanned 2.000 times per second after you push the engine start button. Pass. What`s next? Reading the speed limitations and ENFORCING them no matter how hard you stomp the mushroom? If you do not comply, your own car writes you a ticket? Give me a CAR, not a nanny.
