To debut in January at NAIAS.

BMW is preparing the first facelift for the 5-Series Gran Turismo and we have the spy photos to prove it.

Sales of the GT have been extremely low but BMW hopes that with this revision the numbers will go up. Although these spy photos might suggest differently due to the plastic cladding screwed onto the lid, the 5-Series GT will lose its huge rear spoiler which will be replaced by a more elegant rear end.

Other changes expected include an updated front bumper fascia with new air intakes, but the front grille and headlights will remain the same. We don’t know if there are any changes inside the cabin, while the engines are expected to be carried over from the current model.

The 2014 BMW 5-Series GT will most likely make its public debut in January at NAIAS in Detroit.

Where I live (Gangnam, Seoul, Korea) you see these everywhere. Take your time to look at it and appreciate it for what it was made for (grand touring for families)and there's beauty in the utilitarian aspect of it. It's got more prescence on the road than a standard 5-Series estate and is more interesting than a X5. Too bad the CLS Shooting Brake will devour it to pieces.

Agree! It's everywhere in China as well. 5GT sells really well in Asia. People need to realize that Luxury and Comfortable design is way more popular in Asia than Sporty design.

More daft comments about the GT. "Sales of the GT have been extremely low" BECAUSE IT IS NOT A REGULAR 5 SERIES AND IS PRODUCED IN LIMITED NUMBERS! BMW never intended it to be a mass market vehicle like the regular 5. FACT. They have sold all of their allocation for this car, and they are selling them as fast as they are making them. All you keyboard warriors that go on about how rubbish it is, have you actually seen one on the road? Probably not. One of these in the right colour with proper 20" wheels has massive road presence. I find it incredible the amount of people that have said how ugly it is without ever seeing one in real life. Sad sad sad.

Seen quite a few of them on the roads but I still don't like it. The proportions reminds me of a Pontiac Aztec. But everyone's entitled to their opinions, which is why we post on here, isn't it?

Just can it. I can't believe they're doing a 3 GT too. Who makes these decisions? Product range is too big padded with these.

NOOOOOO. I thought this car was an official failure and that they were going to discontinue it after the sales figures...

I had hoped that BMW would see the light - apparently not. A facelift for a vehicle that requires a complete rework ain't gonna cut it.
