Volkswagen has announced plans to introduce a Beetle 53 Edition in Spain.

Inspired by the iconic Herbie character from films like "The Love Bug", the special edition features a white exterior with tri-color body stripes, "53" badging and 17-inch alloy wheels. There's also additional standard equipment and a "Beetle 53" badge on the glove box.

Under the hood, three different engines are available. The entry-level model features a 1.2-liter TSI engine that develops 105 HP (77 kW). There's also a 1.6-liter TDI with 105 HP and a 2.0-liter TDI with 140 HP (103 kW).

The Beetle 53 Edition will go on sale shortly and Spanish pricing starts at €22,090.

His career on the big screen did not end here, with four films under his belt, most recently in 2005, besides numerous television appearances.
This fearless opponent of racing cars, now revived under the lines of XXI Century Beetle. Volkswagen presents an exclusive edition for the Spanish market, the Beetle 53 Edition. This is a version with an attractive design and full equipment of the finish Design. The distinctive tricolor stripe in red, white and blue, and the back 53 in the hood and the inscription "Beetle", will make it the center of attraction wherever he circulates. If your old enough to remember the original Herbie and I am LOL. The actor who drove herbie was in fact straight, but the mechanic played by buddy hackett maybe not so much. Either way this beetle will always be more fun and manly than a toyota prius.
