P4/5 Competizione tackles Imola, sounds great doing it [video]

The ultimate Ferrari

We're huge fans of James Glickenhaus' Ferrari P4/5 Competizione, so we couldn't resist showing you a new video of the car at Imola.

Filmed by Youtube's Marchettino, the clip shows the bespoke racecar battling more mainstream Ferrari's at one of Europe's most prestigious tracks.

As we have previously reported, the P4/5 Competizione is based on the F430 Scuderia and features a 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 500 HP (368 kW) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a six-speed sequential transmission which has enabled the 1350 kg (2976 lb) race car to set a new Nurburgring lap record for being the fastest Ferrari with a time of just 6 minutes and 51 seconds.

Race engines can produce significantly more power than standard road going engines due to race fuel, exhaust, and other things. 500 HP really is not that special for a NA 4.0L V8. Porsche makes NA flat-6 racing engines that produce north of 500HP.

That is an amazing lap time for a car that is, by current standards, not extremely powerful or exceedingly light.
