Rimac e-M3 is the fastest accelerating EV in the world [video]

0-62 mph in 3.3 seconds.

There’s more green to this BMW 3-Series E30 from 1984 than just the paintwork as we are dealing with a proper electric vehicle. The work on this car started after the CEO of Rimac Automobili, who was only 19 years old at the time, blew up the engine while racing. He then decided to turn it into an EV and since then Mate Rimac has developed five evolutions of this classic BMW.

The car you see in these photos and video generates no less than 600 hp (447 kW) and 663 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque, enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).

He managed to take down five world records on April 17th, 2011 when he took the car on a two-mile long military runway near Zagreb. These are his records:

- 1/8 mile: 7,549
- 1/4 mile: 11,808
- 1/2 km: 13,714*
- 1 km: 23,260*
- 1 mile: 35,347*

*Records subject to official FIA approval (pending)

it's a fast car but how many miles can it do before you have to charge it for many hours..? and what about the electromagnetic field produced by an electric engine large enough to move a car? there are reports about laptops being potentially dangerous for the same reason; what about a battery many times more powerful?...

I wonder what's the possible distance you can drive this car without recharging. Maybe the one mile is the maximum :D

A 4 cylinder with a turbo and some tune, and do that no problem. And the en result would be a lot lighter, good for cornering and braking

Ok I admit it's impressive and the car aint all that bad looking, nicely design but I think we can admit it's missing one thing. the Roar of a v9 twin turbo or a V10 or even a v12. Electric is great but a supercar needs to be hear and felt.

sensel, the pop-ups on this site are not effected by the ad blocker I've been using. Maybe you could have been more helpful and recommended a solution.
