Porsche 911 Carrera S laps the Nurburgring in 7:37.9 [video]

Faster than the outgoing 911 Turbo

Porsche has released a new video of the 911 Carrera S lapping the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Piloted by Timo Kluck, the sports car managed to post an impressive time of 7 minutes and 37.9 seconds. For comparison, a 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo took 7 minutes and 39 seconds to complete the same task.

Powered by 3.8-liter engine with 400 PS (294 kW / 394 hp) and 440 Nm (324 lb-ft) of torque, the Porsche 911 Carrera S accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds (3.9 seconds with the SC package) and has a top speed of 188 mph (302 km/h).

The stock Turbo did the lap in 7.38 in 2008 with stock tires. Such a time for a carrera s is amazing though...

Truly amazing. Most impressive is the fact tha this time can be lower because in one of the short straights he depressed the accelerator and pressed it again. So he defenetly can do better time, although this is impressive enough. What a machine!
