Ford Mustang headed to Europe [video]

The Pony Express

America's favorite pony car is headed across the Atlantic as Ford has announced plans to offer the Mustang in Europe.

Speaking at the company's "Go Further" event in Amsterdam, Ford CEO Alan Mulally said "What has made Mustang such a sensation in the U.S. for nearly 50 years soon will be enjoyed by customers in Europe."

Mulally declined to go into specifics, but said the company "will have more details to share in the future." This could imply Ford will wait until the next-generation model is launched in 2014.

Euroean regulations ,maybe, will make it a lot more expensive, but I think still competitive against what european brands can offer. Of course, nobody can really foresee what is going to happen to the euro.

I do not think Europe regulations will allow a convertible version since it does not have active or passive roll bars.. Europe also requires cars with xenon headlight to have auto levelers and headlight cleaners which I believe USA standards do not require this. As long as it is priced right it should sell as long as gas prices do no keep climbing.

The problem is that with taxes it will cost as much as a 911, why get something that is worth half of that?
