Could spawn Alfa Romeo and Lancia variants

Our spy photographers have managed to catch the Jeep Liberty successor.

Snapped wearing an Alfa Romeo Giulietta body, the prototype features a revised front fascia, an increased ride height and Yokohama all-terrain tires.

It's hard to say what the production model will look like, but it will ride on the CUSW (Compact U.S. Wide) platform that currently underpins the Dodge Dart. We can also expect Alfa Romeo and Lancia variants.

Power could be provided by a newly-developed 3.2-liter V6 engine. Little is known about it, but it is expected to be based on the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and be connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive could be standard, but four-wheel drive should be optional.

The Jeep Liberty successor is expected to debut at the North American International Auto Show, while the Alfa Romeo and Lancia variants could bow a few months later in Geneva.
