Could debut early next year

The 2013 Audi A3 recently went on sale in Europe, so it comes as little surprise the company is wrapping up development on the A3 Sportback.

Looking virtually identical to its smaller sibling, the five-door variant features a longer wheelbase and two additional doors which should ease access to the rear seats.

Engine options will carryover from the standard model, so expect choices to include a 1.4-liter TFSI with 122 PS (90 kW / 121 hp), a 1.8-liter TFSI with 180 PS (132 kW / 177 hp) and a 2.0-liter TDI with 150 PS (110 kW / 148 hp). They can be connected to a six-speed manual transmission or an optional seven-speed S tronic gearbox. Front-wheel drive will be standard, but all-wheel drive will also be available.

Sure the car looks good. But it looks like a mini A6 Avant. I wish it was like in the previous generation, that the 3door rear differed a lot from the Sportback rear.

Looks a bit like a A6 at the front and like a A4 at the back, but I still like it very much.

I'm digging the new headlights, it's a good direction to take the design in.
