Future lineup also comes into focus

Cadillac has reportedly approved production of a range-topping flagship.

According to Automotive News, the Mercedes S-Class competitor will be launched in 2015 and ride on the company's rear-wheel drive Omega platform. Styling will likely be influenced by the Ciel concept and a variety of V6 / V8 engines are expected. They will likely be connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and an optional all-wheel drive system.

In the near term, the company will launch a facelifted SRX this fall. It will tide buyers over until a redesigned model goes on sale in late 2014 or early 2015.

Next year, Cadillac will introduce a redesigned CTS. It will be slightly larger than the current model and feature evolutionary styling. A coupe should debut a year later, but the wagon has reportedly been axed.

2013 will also usher in a new Escalade. It will be based on the company's next-generation pickup truck architecture and likely feature a new, small block V8 engine.

Later that year, Cadillac will launch the ELR coupe. Essentially a rebadged Chevrolet Volt, the ELR boasts sporty styling and an upgraded Voltec powertrain.

In 2014, the company will introduce an ATS-V and an ATS coupe. An ATS wagon is considered unlikely and the convertible variant has reportedly been put on hold.

Lastly in 2015, Cadillac could introduce a large crossover based on an updated Lambda platform. It should be more economical than the Escalade which will make it a good choice for families that don't extreme hauling capabilities.

I just hope the CTS keeps its angles, the ATS should do well but this "larger crossover" scares me. This lineup can not be overrun by SUVs and crossovers. Can't wait to see a production Ciel and a new Escalade!!! Make the Escaleder smaller before you introduce another crummy crossover.

Only places I can imagine this luxurious, enormous, convertible (the Ciel) being driven around is Hollywood and the Arab Emirates.

Sky-high prospects for this jaw-dropping homage to Cadillac's heritage. Great news indeed! However, any watering-down measures may just kill its chances of success particularly in Europe, but if this mega drop-top marks a new chapter in fit and finish for America's Rolls Royce then we are in heaven! Luxury redefined.

I do like Cadillac but I hope they are not expanding too fast and stop improving old line of cars like they have done in the past. The USA has had great inventions but quickly move to the next without fine tuning previous inventions like the japanese and the germans. Also, why is it that Luxury in the USA means something bigger in a car. Big houses, Big cars, when everyone else in the world works with less. Big trucks and SUVs already look like dinosaurs. I live on Hawaii and it is a rare site to see full size trucks or suv's.

you live on an island with some of the most expensive prices as everything must be brought in just about...it has to do with the economics. You people on this site act like the USA is the biggest polluter in the world and that is simply untrue. China spews many times the pollutants into the air from their industries than all of the american vehicles. You want to be be active and eco...China is a better target. I don;t see people wearing masks to go into the London Olympics or the Olympics held in the USA and that is because China's air quality is much worse.

Great news. Now the only thing that would make it even better if Cadillac would also work on a front/mid engined supercar.

I hope they don't get our hopes up, and then make something that is plainly obvious was forced onto a platform that alters the artist's intended proportions.
