Will cost approximately $30,000

Tesla's chief designer, Franz von Holzhausen, has revealed some new details about their upcoming BMW 3-Series competitor.

Speaking with Autocar, von Holzhausen said the model could be launched as early as 2015. It will have distinctive styling as the company "will become more experimental as we develop as a brand." We can also expect a base price of approximately $30,000 (€24,570 / £19,400).

Besides talking about the entry-level model, von Holzhausen commented "There will be a time and place for us to develop something around a pick-up. That's a market for which the torque of an electric motor would be ideally suited."

Another example how a small company can get things done while the huge companies lack direction, just like Uncle Sam.

Being that most 30 to 40,000 dollar EVs are economy car like a Tesla at that price should help bring the price of electric cars down. I really like Tesla's ambition, they aren't content to sit around and wait for new technology Tesla develops the technology and continues developing new cars. Tesla is starting to look like leader rather then a follower in the electric market.
