Could be unveiled next year

New details are starting to emerge about the 2014 Cadillac CTS.

Set to go on sale next year, the model will ride on an extended version of the Alpha platform which currently underpins the ATS. It will be slightly larger than today's model, so expect it to positioned as a proper competitor to the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series and Mercedes E-Class.

Engine options remain unconfirmed, but choices are expected to include:

  • A 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS) and 188 lb-ft (255 Nm) of torque.
  • A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 270 hp (201 kW / 274 PS) and 260 lb-ft (353 Nm) of torque.
  • A 3.6-liter V6 engine with 320 hp (239 kW / 324 PS) and 267 lb-ft (362 Nm) of torque.

A diesel engine will eventually be offered in Europe, but not at launch. Furthermore, the CTS-V is expected to retain its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that currently develops 556 hp (415 kW / 564 PS) and 551 lb-ft (747 Nm) of torque.

I can't wait one year! What I don't from cadillac is that they are so desperate to sell more cars in europe for at leat 7years. If i'm not mistaking it was about 5years ago they said the would offer a v6 diesel for europe. Guess what, they still don't offer it here today. Infiniti does, a 238hp 3.0v6, but they still don't sell. But i'm sure they would sell about half or 66% less without the diesel. In europe the german luxury carmakers are king in the higher sigments and others haven't been able to achieve that.

So what, other manufacturer like Infiniti, Lexus, Jaguar, Cadillac have to "sit and cry"? No they wil try to take a market share no matter what. And that is spirit to try to beat them in their own game. Beside that, there are people who want to be different in crowd of German executive cars...me included
