2014 Mazda6 teased [video]

Debuts at the Paris Motor Show

Mazda has released the first teaser video of the 2014 Mazda6, ahead of its debut at the Paris Motor Show.

The company declined to release details, but said the sedan will feature KODO styling which incorporates several cues from the Takeri concept. As Chief Designer Akira Tamatani commented, "The deeply sculpted face with sharp eyes gazing forward, defined by the chrome 'signature wing', instantly conveys to onlookers that this must be Mazda's new flagship sedan."

Additional information is limited, but the North American variant will be equipped with a SKYACTIV-G petrol engine. It can be connected to six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission which should enable the model to return best-in-class fuel economy.

Sales are slated to begin early next year, so stay tuned for full details.

it's not just mazda but I think there's a serious deficit of ingenuity when it comes to the design of normal road cars... I haven'y seen anything really stunning for quite a while. nobody seems to take the risk of getting out of the mainstream which is probably due to the globalization and its global markets, but my... most new cars are just boring

How do you feel about most luxury cars? I feel there have been some pretty good designs over the last decade or so. However, with that being said there were still a lot of cars on the market that didn't quite evoke that emotional response when you see it... if that is what you meant.

yes exactly... seriously expensive cars get all the best design ideas. of course there are some exceptions like the civic but in general I don't feel very satisfied with the looks of the cars that most people can afford.

Yeah, that is why I am excited about the new Mazda6! I feel that it has a good blend of sportiness, practicality and just looks like a more expensive car. I can understand why companies that have a luxury division would put more into the design of their luxury cars, however, being a lower class citizen in the states you want something that feels a little more expensive than what it is, something that when you look at it, it just grabs you and you just want to drive it!

How about the previous 8th gen European Ver Honda Civic ? That maybe a bit controversial, but nevertheless groupndbreaking interpretation of a "hatchback" perhaps ?

I saw 2002 model today, and I sad, what a good car that is. Pretty unusual ha, but totally earned by Mazda. This is going to be a brilliant car :)

I feel that once the new Mazda6 is released it will have the perfect balance of sport and practicality for a family car in this segment! The Sonata is okay and the new Altima is not that impressive. Provided that it performs well, I think Mazda could own this segment!
