Our spies have managed to catch a Porsche 911 GT3 prototype on video while it was doing its latest round of testing.
The GT3 version of the 911 series is easily distinguishable from the standard Carrera versions with its center-mounted dual exhaust system and a prominent rear wing. We can also see from this spy video the front is sporting an evolutionary sculpted front end that appears slightly more aggressive than its predecessor.
Power for the 911 GT3 will be drawn from a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine with an output that will be reportedly rated at around 470 PS (346 kW / 464 hp). It is likely to be offered exclusively with the PDK seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission although Porsche are yet to officially rule out the lighter manual option that is also employed in the 911 Turbo S.
A top speed close to 200mph (322kph) should be achievable and it will accelerate from 0-100kph(0-62mph) in around 4 seconds.
The new generation Porsche 911 GT3 will be unveiled following the debuts of the Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S at September's Paris Motor Show. The Los Angeles Motor Show in October could be a likely location.
