2013 Volkswagen Golf GTI spied on Nurburgring [video]

Could have an aluminum floor and roof

New details are starting to emerge about the 2013 Volkswagen Golf GTI.

According to Autocar, the model will ride on the MQB platform and feature an aluminum floor and roof. The car is also expected to have a VAQ front differential which uses an electronically-controlled Haldex clutch for improved handling.

Power will reportedly be provided by a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine that develops 260 hp (194 kW / 264 PS) - 52 hp (39 kW / 53 PS) more than today's model. This should enable the hatchback to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than seven seconds.

That seems like too much power for a GTI.. I know they want it to be competitive with new competition like the Focus ST, but nobody wants a GTI with horrible turbo lag.
