Skoda Rapid spied burning rubber on Nurburgring [video]

The Upcoming started development as the MissionL design concept that was unveiled at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show. Soon after we started to see the first pictures as well as initial teasers of full production prototypes and now we bring you the first video of a model in its full glory on video.

The Skoda Rapid prototypes caught in this video are being pushed to the limit by test drivers on the famous Nurburgring, the screeching sounds of burning rubber on the tarmac evidently shows this.

The latest model to join the Skoda line-up will sit neatly between the Fabia and the Octavia. It has been designed to appeal to families with plenty of legroom and space for luggage.

The Skoda Rapid will arrive in European dealerships before the end of the year while the Chinese market will have to wait until 2013.

if you look closely you can see that the rear doors, rear and front bumpers, rear taillights, headlights, hood ornament, are drawn on a sticker and totally different from what is under it. under the sticker is actually 99% Skoda Mission L concept.

if anything this looks MORE dull than a Jetta, and worse yet if you put it alongside a Focus or Elantra, among others. Really not liking VW current design language... its not bad, but it not good either. Very, very vanilla. And this car still baffles me, or at least WCF does, but its constant reference to it slotting between the Fabia and Octavia, which are B and C segment cars respectively. So what is this then, a B.5 car? IMO this is either the new Octavia, or a more 'booted' model of the new Fabia for markets that prefer sedans to hatchbacks, namely China these days
