Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport almost crashes at hill climb [video]

During the Prescott hill climb in the UK, a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport lost control while performing some demonstration runs.

Althought we are unable to see how the Veyron got sideways in the first place, it seems the Veyron had too much speed going into the turn, and the driver over-compensated to correct his mistake.

However, with the adjacent barrier looming just across the pavement, the driver manages to keep it off the grass which surely would have turned the Veyron into the world's most expensive roller skate. After a brief pause the Veyron gets back on track and continues with an impressive rolling first gear launch.

According to the videographer, Bugatti people were later heard in their tent blaming it on the airbrake / rear spoiler.

Either way, its nice to see a Veyron being driven like it was stolen.

I was there standing on the opposite side. He was apparently doing about 80mph in the corner when the spoiler dropped so he lost a load of rear downforce. If he hadn't kept a couple of wheels on the tarmac he'd have slid across the grass in to the bank, just like on MG did about half an hour earlier. I happened to be photographing it at the time and got a series of pics, this being one of them. http://i.imgur.com/ts3X6.jpg Great day out if you're ever that way.

Bet that driver was sweating afterwards, and thankful for not causing any damage to the Grand sport.

It almost looked like it was in slow motion when he lost it. Impressive acceleration out of the hairpin though.

Holy shit, the acceleration from 0:20 - 0:25 is insane. Good to see an owner actually testing their supercar.
