BMW 6-series Gran Coupe pricing announced (UK), new photos & video released

BMW's first four-door coupe will arrive on the UK market next month in the form of the 6-series Gran Coupe and here is a brand new batch of background worthy images as well as a new video.

Ahead of the launch, the Bavarian automaker has also announced pricing will start at £61,390 for the 640i model. The entry level model employs a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that generates 320 PS (235 kW / 315 hp).

The range topping 650i meanwhile will start at £70,650 and comes equipped with the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 unit that also powers the M6. The de-tuned unit produces 450 PS (330 kW / 443 hp) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque giving the model a 0-100kph (0-62mph) time of 4.6 seconds.

The only diesel powered model of the line-up is the 640d which carries a starting price of £63,900 and draws its power from 3.0-liter diesel engine with 313 PS (230 kW / 309 hp). It is the most frugal and environmentally friendly of the line-up with CO2 emmissions of 148g/km while fuel consumption is rated at 5.7 liters/km (49.6mpg UK / 41.3mpg US).

  • BMW's first four-door coupé

  • Elegant and sporty classic grand tourer

  • Stretched wheelbase improves cabin space

  • Third model joins the 6 Series range

  • Two petrol and one diesel engine to be offered

  • New 450hp twin-turbo V8 heads engine line-up

BMW will expand the 6 Series range to three models in June 2012 with the introduction of the Gran Coupé. BMW’s first four-door coupé combines the elegant and sporty appearance of a classic grand tourer with the space and ease of access of an executive saloon.

A new 450hp V8 heads a range of three TwinPower Turbo engines, which also includes six-cylinder petrol and six-cylinder diesel powerplants. All three engines drive through an eight-speed automatic transmission and come with the full suite of EfficientDynamics technologies, including Auto Start-Stop, ensuring highly responsive performance goes hand-in-hand with low fuel consumption and emissions. Extensive use of aluminium in the body and chassis reduces weight and ensures that the 6 Series Gran Coupé has the agility and precision expected of a BMW.

I do not agree with the Audi hating, but this is a stunning BMW, simply stunning.

For the most part a sleek, sexy car, Except for the old BMW foe. Body panel gaps especially the nose but all around no good. Loveless. Not 21st century engineering. Soon even Skoda does it better.

This is a nice car but compare to a CLS it is expensive. A nicely equiped 6 GC is almost similer to a CLS 63 ! So which one you would pick?

I would choose this over its german rivals (cls, a7). The price however for these 4 door coupes is from another planet. Gorgeous car or cars should I say. Ther fact that there is w wide range of engines makes it even better.
