BMW 6-series Gran Coupe pricing announced (UK), new photos & video released
BMW's first four-door coupe will arrive on the UK market next month in the form of the 6-series Gran Coupe and here is a brand new batch of background worthy images as well as a new video.
Ahead of the launch, the Bavarian automaker has also announced pricing will start at £61,390 for the 640i model. The entry level model employs a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that generates 320 PS (235 kW / 315 hp).
The range topping 650i meanwhile will start at £70,650 and comes equipped with the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 unit that also powers the M6. The de-tuned unit produces 450 PS (330 kW / 443 hp) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque giving the model a 0-100kph (0-62mph) time of 4.6 seconds.
The only diesel powered model of the line-up is the 640d which carries a starting price of £63,900 and draws its power from 3.0-liter diesel engine with 313 PS (230 kW / 309 hp). It is the most frugal and environmentally friendly of the line-up with CO2 emmissions of 148g/km while fuel consumption is rated at 5.7 liters/km (49.6mpg UK / 41.3mpg US).

New 450hp twin-turbo V8 heads engine line-up
BMW will expand the 6 Series range to three models in June 2012 with the introduction of the Gran Coupé. BMW’s first four-door coupé combines the elegant and sporty appearance of a classic grand tourer with the space and ease of access of an executive saloon.
A new 450hp V8 heads a range of three TwinPower Turbo engines, which also includes six-cylinder petrol and six-cylinder diesel powerplants. All three engines drive through an eight-speed automatic transmission and come with the full suite of EfficientDynamics technologies, including Auto Start-Stop, ensuring highly responsive performance goes hand-in-hand with low fuel consumption and emissions. Extensive use of aluminium in the body and chassis reduces weight and ensures that the 6 Series Gran Coupé has the agility and precision expected of a BMW.
