The Pagani Story part 5 - Cinque and Tricolore [video]

In this final chapter of the five episode series documenting the story of Pagani Automobili, two of the most distinct variants of the Zonda series are the focus - the Cinque and Tricolore.

The Cinque started in 2009 with a request from a Pagani dealer in Hong Kong to build the most extreme road-legal Zonda ever created. Based on the race-only Zonda R, the Cinque was limited to five examples only. It was the first road-legal car to feature a carbon-titanium fiber body and the first Pagani car to receive a sequential gearbox. Specially designed aerodynamics provided 750 kilograms (1653 lbs) of downforce at 300km/h (186mph) and 1.45 Gs of cornering force while the AMG sourced engine produced 678 HP (499 kW / 669 bhp) and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft) of torque. 0-100km/h took 3.4 seconds.

The Tricolore, a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Italy's airforce aerobatic team, Frecce Tricolori, was to be the last mass-produced Zonda, but strong customer demand caused three examples to be built. One of the highlight design elements of the Tricolore was its blue tinted clear lacquer coating on the natural carbon fiber body surface plus the Frecce Tricori stripes running on the sides of the car. The Zonda Tricolore was reportedly priced at €1.3 million (US$1.76 million).

Admittedly, Pagani is my favorite car manufacturer despite being so Niche. Ill never own one but thats partially why i have Gran Turismo. The Zonda R is a hurricane on wheels.
