Following the initial teaser video announcements of the M Performance editions of the BMW M3 and M5, we can now bring you official details, photos and the gut-wrenching pricing statistics.

The M3 version comes with a frozen exterior paint in either red, white or blue which has not been offered in the UK market before. It also features 19-inch M alloy wheels, seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission (M-DCT), BMW Individual piano black interior trim and special M Performance badging.

The M5 version meanwhile offers the same exterior and interior color options along with M Sport multifunction seats, 20 inch alight alloy wheels in matt black and a loudspeaker system.

Those looking to dig seep in their pockets and purchase the special edition models will need £74,080 for the M3 M Performance and £95,140 for the M5 M Performance. These figures represent respective premiums of £19,360 and £22,075 over their base model counterparts.

Full details of the M Performance models can be found on the BMW's UK site here.

... It seems that for BMW, "Performance" stands for "fancy colors", "badges" and "multifunction seats". Wohoo!

Guys I think you need to check M5 races on YouTube, vs panamera turboS and CLS63 . It's really impressive!

Great, another special edition from M-Power which adds nothing but rice and price. BMW is watering down the M badly.

A "performance" package shouldn't be purely cosmetic.

For all those complaining, it's just a marketing ploy to cater to people who want something a little different. Don't b***h about it just because you can't afford it yourself. BMW is a business at the end of the day and their goal is to make money for a premium product.
